Connecting to Your VPS

You must read the instructions on this page carefully, they are important to the correct operation of and access to your VPS server.

Windows XP and Vista come with Remote Desktop Client pre-installed.

Windows 98/2000 users can download it from the microsoft.com website.

1. Open RDC (Remote Desktop Client)
Start-> Accessories -> Remote Desktop Connection

2. Enter your VPS IP address, Administrator as the username and your Administrator password and click connect.

IMPORTANT: You must connect via CONSOLE mode in order to prevent ghost (Duplicate) trades and other unwanted behaviour caused by more than one open connection to your vps server.

In the IP ADDRESS BOX EITHER enter (replacing Xs with your vps IP as notified to you via email):

XX.XXX.XXX.XXX -console

OR if you recieve an error message when you try and connect or have a new windows version eg Windows 7:

XX.XXX.XXX.XXX /Admin

(this is because each new user connecting has the same effect as a new user logging in locally - items placed in the startup folder will be triggered including your meta trader platform! Logging into the server via console mode will prevent this)

A large windows should open and log you into your VPS desktop session.

It is very important for your trading VPS that you only have one connection open to your vps at any one time. If you find you have more than one then in order to properly close a session, you need to logout from the start menu on the VPS.

Rebooting your VPS will also clear any open RDC sessions.

You can leave software applications ie Your Metatrader running on the VPS by closing the RDC windows without logging off from the VPS. Either click the X at the top right of the RDC window or from the start menu of your vps START->SHUTDOWN->DISCONNECT

You will resume your session on next RDC to the VPS - Save you connection details so you always connect via console mode as detailed above.

Each RDC session alone uses about 20mb memory minimum. If there is not enough memory available, you will not be able to connect to your VPS without either raising the memory limit, closing running processes or rebooting your VPS.

You can reboot your VPS from your VZPP at https://your-vps-ip:4643/
From the VZPP you can also see memory usage, use file manager, view disk usage, bandwidth usage etc..

If you are unable to connect to VZPP, it will mean your VPS has absolutely no memory left and will need to be rebooted by myforexvps.co.uk staff - please request a reboot via support ticket by logging into your account on our website.
